An MP from Meru County has denied being among the over 10 legislators said to have exhibited Corona-like symptoms as the country’s confirmed cases stand at 179.
Tigania East MP Josphat Gichunge Kabeabea on Wednesday took to his social media platforms to rubbish the information citing him as being in the list of the lawmakers reportedly tested last week.
“Ignore any other information doing rounds on social media. I am safe my people,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
The post elicited mixed reactions as netizens took the opportunity to castigate the MP for neglecting his electorate in the wake of Covid-19.
“You had hid yourself from constituents until they started asking of your whereabouts on media,” Murithi Tyrax Stephen commented on the MP’s post.
Residents lashed out at the legislator for “helplessly watching as house (electorate) continue burning instead of providing water (help) to put the fire off”
“We are wondering where you have been,” wrote Joshua Kirimi.
But some of the netizens sympathised with the MP asking him to stay safe. “Thanks Mheshimiwa. We stay safe with Jesus in our midst,” commented Hazigard Hezron Mwenda.
