Herders in Marsabit County have been warned against watering their animals in undesignated points following the death of over 100 sheep and goats in Dukana Ward, North Horr Constituency.
About 150 goats died on Friday from suspected nitrate poisoning raising fear and tension among the herders.
It is alleged that the animals drank water from an abandoned dam in the area.
Agriculture CEC Hussein Ali said investigations had been launched to establish the cause of the deaths.
Contacted, he said his office was not in a position to ascertain what caused the deaths but assured of a comprehensive report upon completion of the ongoing investigation.
Nitrate poisoning incidents have been common in Laisamis and North Horr constituencies.
