A Nanyuki court has ordered Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip to surrender to police after he failed to appear in court to answer to unlawful firearm use and grievous harm charges.

The Senator allegedly shot Joy Makena at Kanu grounds in Nanyuki following an altercation on October 24.

Mr Loitiptip was to appear in court on November 1 but did not show up prompting Nanyuki Principal Magistrate Ben Mararo to issue the orders.

The directive comes several days after the suspect and the victim last Thursday said they had agreed to settle the matter out of court.

Mr Loitiptip was last Monday arraigned before Nanyuki court and released on Sh1 million bond or Sh500, 000 cash bail.
