Police in Mandera are pursuing two brothers who set their younger brother ablaze for being a witness in a case where one of them was accused of stealing a mobile phone.
The 14-year-old Class Seven pupil at Kamor Primary School was rescued by police officers though with severe burns and is currently admitted at Mandera County Referral Hospital.
Reports indicate that the boy was lured into their house by his brothers Yusuf and Ibrahim Ahmed before covering him with a mattress soaked in petrol and setting him on fire and leaving him for the dead.
The boy was reportedly a witness in a case where Mr Ibrahim was accused of stealing a phone.
Police officers saw smoke coming from the house and rushed to the scene only to find the boy burning.
“Detectives are hot in pursuit of the two brothers,” DCI shared on Twitter.
