The government has ordered non-residents in Laikipia County’s areas affected by spate of insecurity to leave and announced a raft of measures to ensure peace resumes in the region.
Bandits continue to unleash occur in the region despite heavy presence of security personnel including officers from the General Service and Rapid Deployment Units and an ongoing government operation.
Three people were killed on Sunday evening after suspected bandits attacked at a home in Ndindika village.
Interior CS Fred Matiang’i said more security officers will be deployed to the affected areas to flush out criminals that continue to terrorise residents.
“I direct an immediate enhancement of the ongoing security operation including a heightened crack operation in the affected areas,” Dr Matiang’i said in the Tuesday statement adding that a special command team has been formed to monitor and review the operation.
