A court has jailed for 20 years a primary school teacher who defiled a Class Six girl while going to school five years ago.
Fredrick Mwangi Wango, 45, reportedly lured the girl to his house in Mathare estate while rushing to school around 6:30am on March 20, 2016.
He would then lock her up in the house for two hours before returning and forcing her to stay until evening.
After she failed to arrive home in the evening, her uncle called the school but the teacher denied knowing of her whereabouts despite reports that she used to spend time at his home.
On proceeding to the teacher’s house, the uncle was shocked to find the minor still in school uniform prompting Mr Mwangi’s arrest.
Medical examination on the girl revealed that she had been defiled.
Senior Principal Magistrate David Ndungi, while delivering the judgment, said it was sad that the teacher violated the girl’s rights instead of protecting her.
