A multi-agency security team manning a road block at Archers post has arrested four men transporting bhang worth Sh1.35 million in a Mazda vehicle.
The cache, estimated to be about 30 kilograms, was packed in polythene papers and hidden under the vehicle’s bonnet.
Isiolo County Commissioner Geofrey Omoding said the narcotics were discovered on Thursday morning by use of sniffer dogs.
He said the government was on the lookout for drug dealers using youths to transport the drugs.
The administrator announced that they had embarked on improved technology to eradicate the illegal trade that had ruined lives of several young people in the region.
“We have mapped the ways the criminals are using and we shall ensure that all of those involved are arrested and prosecuted,” said Mr Omoding.
He urged the youth to engage in legal businesses and desist from being used in ferrying of bhang and other drugs as they will not be spared.
“They (youths) should shun being used by drug lords and engage in clean businesses,” he appealed saying young people should work hard and be patient in life.
Mr Omoding spoke during the inspection of the vehicle at Isiolo Police Station with County Police Commander Joseph Kigen and his County Criminal Investigations colleague Ms Betty Chepng’eno.
