The National Police Service (NPS) Commission has formed a committee to investigate the conduct of two senior police officers in Isiolo facing indiscipline cases.
The committee will in the next three days interrogate the accused officers and thereafter prepare a report (from the findings) to be submitted to the NPSC for necessary action.
The Commission Chairperson Mr Eliud Kinuthia revealed that one of the officers involved is an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
Speaking during the commencement of the hearings at Isiolo Police Station on Monday, Mr Kinuthia said the commission will ensure due diligence while determining the cases.
The case brings to five the number of countrywide ASP who have appeared before the commission over indiscipline cases in the last three months with the sixth case still pending.
Mr Kinuthia maintained that the exercise would be completed within two weeks saying if found guilty, they will be dismissed, demoted, or given a second chance.
“There are officers who are falsely accused but we are committed to ensuring that justice has prevailed. If such happens and we ascertain that indeed they were innocent they will be acquitted,” he said.
He said the accused officers will, during the hearing process, be allowed to bring in witnesses to defend them for a fair hearing.
“I want to assure our officers that we shall ensure justice while handling the cases,” he told journalists.
The official said the Commission was keen on ensuring improved working conditions for the officers through better housing and improved health care services.
