A man who stole a Sh6000 goat belonging to a businessman who operates a butchery in Tuluroba, Isiolo two years ago has been jailed for one year.
Salim Dabaso is said to have on September 28, 2019 robbed Lokesio Lonyokobiro of the goat while grazing tens of animals at Safi area near the Isiolo GK Prison farm along Isiolo-Moyale road.
The suspect told the herdsman, contracted by Boru Mohammed, that he had been sent by the owner to pick one of the goats but Lokesio was adamant as the businessman had left the area minutes earlier.
Mr Dabaso would then remove a knife from his pocket and threaten to kill the herdsman forcing him to oblige.
The suspect was arrested the following day after the butchery operator reported the incident at Isiolo Police Station.
He pleaded not guilty to robbery with violence and stealing stock saying ”it was not me”.
But Isiolo Chief Magistrate Samwel Mungai found him guilty of the second offence and acquitted him of the other charge due to insufficient evidence to warrant a conviction.
“I am satisfied, based on the evidence tabled by the prosecution, that the accused stole the goat and find him guilty of stealing stock,” Mr Mungai said while delivering the judgment.
