Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki has passionately defended Chuka University VC Erastus Njoka on fake academic certificates allegations but could the legislator be shedding crocodile tears?
Despite Prof Kindiki being one of the reputable law scholars in the country, he has publicly maintained that Prof Njoka is being witch-hunted by his political foes not giving a chance to the ongoing legal process.
The Senator has continued to dismiss as a waste of time and resources the ongoing investigations by EACC ‘since Prof Njoka’s papers are as authentic as the king’s seal’.
Political pundits are now pointing at Prof Kindiki as the main beneficiary of the whole ‘fake’ certificate saga that not only widens the political rift between Prof Njoka and Governor Muthomi Njuki but also divides Chuka community votes.
The VC has maintained that Governor Njuki must be the architect behind the masterpiece that is giving him political dyspepsia.
Those analyzing the matter argue that the witty Prof Kindiki knows very well that considering that Governor Njuki is Prof Njoka’s political arch-rival, all fingers will point at him and that his(senator) desire is for the debate to remain active for as long as possible.
This is not a new political card by the brilliant Senator, he took advantage of the Kathwana municipality boundary to package him as the most peaceful and listening county leader.
After a Gog and Magog battle between Prof Njoka and Governor Njuki on where the Kathwana municipality should extend up to towards Chuka town, Prof Kindiki went to Kangutu market and castigated the two leaders accusing them of dividing the county and not engaging members of the public.
He said people should remain where they want to be- either within Kathwana municipality or within the defunct Chuka municipality and the legislator was praised and adored as the peacemaker, the father of the county.
Prof Njoka accused Njuki of encroaching into Chuka community in the favour of the Igambang’ombe community.
In the Igambang’ombe Sub-County case that also pitted Governor against the VC, the Senator also took the mileage by calling for a truce but that was after the two Chuka sons had seriously injured each other politically.
In the matter that is still active in Land Environment and Labour Court, Prof Njoka publicly dismissed the establishment of Igambang’ombe sub-county which is mainly inhabited by Tharaka speaking people claiming that it had encroached into Chuka community.
Prof Kindiki who is also eyeing the gubernatorial seat in 2022 knows very well that it’s to his advantage if Njoka and Njuki share Chuka votes equally.
The Senator is also secretly selling the rotational politics through his political lieutenants which is also favoring him since its only Tharaka constituency where he comes from that is yet to produce a governor.
