The seventh annual devolution conference that was to take place in Makueni has been postponed due to the recent ban on all public gatherings.

The Council of Governor’s steering committee on Thursday said the new dates will be communicated later.

The government introduced the ban and extended the countrywide curfew for 60 days following rising infections due to flouting of the health protocols on hygiene, social distancing and wearing of masks.

Reports show that eight counties of Machakos, Nyandarua, Meru, Murang’a, Kiambu, Baringo, Nyeri and Makueni have in the last one week recorded a positivity rate of above 30 percent.

The four-day conference was to start on August 23, 2021.
