More than 200 women in Marsabit County have benefited with Sh25, 000 business start-up funds for economic empowerment from a Non-Governmental Organisation.

The 216 women from Turbi, Horonderi, Shurr, Burgabo, Mudhe and Bubisa villages in Shurr community conservancy got Sh6 million enterprise funding from the Northern Rangelands Trust.

The women have already been trained on among others financial literacy, entrepreneurship and savings.

The NRT-Trading funding is through the Biashara Mashinani programme supported by USAID Kenya and the Embassy of Denmark.

The NGO will link the group to a savings platform to build in them a savings culture to enable them to grow their businesses.
