Detectives in Ruiru, Kiambu have arrested three men suspected to have stolen goods worth Sh30 million belonging to a businessperson while they were on transit.
Police reports indicate that Ms Khadija Abdi Mohamud had imported electronic items and motor vehicle tires that were meant to be transported to South Sudan where she supplies them to local traders.
The goods after being delivered at Mombasa port, were cleared and released to their intended destination but reports indicate that they were diverted to Kiambu.
The sleuths, upon receiving a report from the trader that her goods had not arrived at the intended time, launched investigations into the matter.
“Detectives swung into action through intelligence-led investigations and established that the merchandise had been diverted to Kiambu County and offloaded into a warehouse,” read part of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) report.
The second batch was recovered in Kajiado County where Mohamed Noor Sheikh, Joseph Njoroge and Josphat Gitau aged 34, 35, and 37 respectively were arrested.
The three are in police custody and will be arraigned after the completion of investigations.
