Three Tharaka Nithi County askaris have been charged for allegedly assaulting a resident in Chuka town, Chuka Igambang’ombe constituency.
Kelvin Murithi, Alexander Mugao and Benson Mwiti are said to have on February 5, 2019 mugged Erastus Kinyua occasioning him bodily harm.
The accused persons appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Mwanamkuu Sudi on May 17 and pleaded not guilty to the count.
Their lawyer sought a release on bail or bond arguing that the trio were employees of Tharaka Nithi government.
The court released each on a bond of Sh50, 000 or cash bail of Sh10, 000.
The case will be mentioned on May 29, 2019.
