The late immediate former National Assembly Clerk Justin Bundi was today laid to rest at Kinoro village in Chuka Igambang’ombe constituency in a burial attended by leaders from across the country.
The leaders among them Senate Deputy Speaker Kithure Kindiki, Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki, the County Women Rep Beatrice Nkatha, Chuka Igambang’ombe MP Patrick Munene and his Taveta counterpart Dr Naomi Shaban eulogized the late immediate former National Assembly Clerk Justin Bundi as an industrious and diligent civil servant.
They also lauded the late’s role in transition from the unicameral to bicameral legislature.
In a condolence message read by Tharaka Nithi County Commissioner Beverly Opwora on behalf of President Uhuru Kenyatta during the sendoff ceremony at Chuka Boys High School, the Head of State described the late Bundi as a dependable public officer who played a key role in the country’s legislative process.
“As a country, we are indebted to the late Bundi who has left an indelible mark both in Kenya and also in East Africa region for his outstanding role as a Clerk in the East Africa Legislative Assembly,”
Prof Kindiki said though Bundi had left a young family, he was hopeful that the widow Patricia Njoki would work hard to achieve her husband’s dream.
He further asked other civil servants to emulate the deceased’s impeccable commitment in his work.
Governor Njuki described the late as a very humble servant who interacted well with the community especially by initiating various development agenda.
He singled out Kirubia stadium and tarmacking of the Chuka town noting that Bundi was the brain behind them.
“We will ensure that his legacy lives on by completing projects that he had started,” said Mr Njuki.
Chuka University Vice Chancellor Erastus Njoka said the county had lost a hero and would never be forgotten.
“He will remain a living dead because of his good works,” Prof Njoka said.
Mr Bundi started his career in public service as a district officer and joined parliament in 1994 as a clerk assistant before becoming the clerk of EALA in 2004.
He was in 2012 appointed the Clerk of the National Assembly where he served until his retirement in March 2017.
The late died after a brave battle with cancer at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi and has left behind a widow, seven children and grandchildren.
