Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi Muhamud risks impeachment by county MCAs over accusations of delegating his official duties to his wife Kheira Omar.
Tulatula MCA Abdullahi Isack who tabled an impeachment motion accusing the County boss of mismanagement of public resources, said that Ms Omar has been a key influencer in key decision making of the county affairs.
More than 30 MCAs have so far signed the impeachment motion, with Mr Isack also citing misuse of office, gross misconduct and corruption.
The MCA noted that the Governor has literally allowed the spouse to run county affairs, bringing mockery and disrespect to the office and its affairs.
Governor Muhamud is also on spot over failure to furnish the assembly with quarterly expenditure reports and also incurring unsustainable debts.
It is alleged that the Governor has been continually awarding contracts and tenders illegally and is expected to appear before the assembly next week to respond to the allegations.
County Assembly speaker Ibrahim Yakub confirmed receiving the motion, noting that it had met all the legal requirements and therefore will follow the normal process.
