Isiolo residents will not be able to access non-essential services for the next 30 days following their suspension due to rising cases of Covid-19 infections and deaths.
Residents have been barred from visiting the public offices during the period when the staff at the respective departments will be working from home which will make them incur extra cost in accessing the services elsewhere.
Workers offering essential services in Fire, Health, Finance, Municipality and Water departments will continue working from their offices but with reduced staff to reduce contact.
In event of emergencies, departmental heads will be required to make necessary arrangements to ensure the needed services are provided to citizens in time according to the directive announced by County Secretary Dr Ahmed Galgalo.
Staffers with underlying conditions and those aged over 58 years have been directed to work from home until it is ascertained that they could resume.
“The directive will be reviewed after assessment of the situation following the lapse of the 30 days,” Dr Galgalo said in April 7 statement.
The county had by April 4 recorded 12 deaths from March 3 this year and nearly 300 positive cases Woman Representative Rehema Jaldesa and Health Chief Officer Ibrahim Alio the latest to contract the disease.
Several MCAs and a number of senior county officials have contracted the disease in the recent past.
