Isiolo North MP hopeful Mwenda Thuranira has rolled out the distribution of wheelchairs to persons living with disabilities to ease their movement and enable them to access crucial services.

Some 15 PWDs last week benefited from the customized mobility devices that will make them more productive and enable them to seize various government opportunities.

Among those who benefited from the wheelchairs is Abdi Wako who decried neglect by the local leaders and the county government.

“We have been forgotten by our leaders and appreciate the kind gesture by Mwenda Thuranira. The devices will make it easier for us to access government offices,” said Mr Wako.

It was a relief for Elizabeth Esokon Kirion after her blind father, who had difficulties walking, benefited from the donations.

“I am so happy that he will now be able to move on his own lessening the burden I had carrying him on my back,” the elated mother of six from Attan, Ngaremara said.

Mr Thuranira appealed to elected leaders to take care of the vulnerable groups so that they live comfortable lives.

He said 15 children living with disabilities will before the end of this month also benefit from the customized wheelchairs being made in Nanyuki town.

“Leaders must stop telling people what is bedeviling our county and start offering solutions to the challenges for improved livelihoods,” he said while issuing out the devices at St Eusebius Isiolo town Parish.
