Tharaka Nithi County Criminal Investigations Officer, Ms Betty Chepng’eno has been transferred to Isiolo County in the same capacity replacing Lenny Kisaka.
Ms Chepng’eno who served in the county for many years has been replaced by Mr Gabriel Nyaga, a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).
The soft-spoken but strict Ms Chepng’eno, handled some capital crimes that shocked the country including the gruesome murder of Chuka Officer Commanding Station Joseph Kinyua who was hacked to death while pursuing killers of Kamaindi Chief, Japheth Majau Mukengu.
Though the always smart Ms Chepng’eno never avoided journalists as many sleuths do, she was very selective on the crimes to comment on.
She would voluntarily invite press for a briefing on matters that she successfully executed and that would demonstrate her excellent performance to her bosses and the members of the public.
Ms Chepngeno worked closely with County Police Commander Charles Mbatu (popularly known as Commando by the security team and the members of the press) and County Commissioner, Ms Beverly Opwora.
Unlike Tharaka Nithi County which has few crimes, Ms Chepngeno is expected to handle various perennial crimes in Isiolo including banditry, drug and human trafficking and sneaking of contrabands.
