Clerics in Isiolo have accused the Governor Mohamed Kuti administration of failure to support Christians during national celebrations.
The religious leaders lamented that their Muslim counterparts were being supported by the county and other leaders during their celebrations.
Led by Bishop Stephen Kalunyu, the leaders said the trend was likely of dividing them with their Muslim brothers who they have been closely working with.
They claimed that through the Special programs office, Muslims were getting financial support to organize their celebrations but Christians were being left out wondering where their money was being diverted to.
“Our Muslim brothers have been receiving support and we want our leaders to treat us equally and refrain discrimination on religion lines,” said Bishop Kalunyu.
The discrimination, the clerics said, continued to subject their members from poor families to suffering especially during the Coronavirus era.
God’s Power Church Francis Ntuara said they had been sidelined in key county issues including decision-making on matters that involve the churches.
Pastor John Thuranira of Jesus Revelation Centre said it was unfortunate that many residents were going without food when the world celebrates Christmas festivities.
“The county should have provided them with food and not watching them continue to suffer,” the cleric said.
Voice of Salvation and Healing’s James Mwenda said they too, like the Muslims, deserved better treatment and equal rights with their counterparts.
