Tension is high in Isiolo’s Leparua village following yesterday’s killing of a secondary school teacher by suspected bandits while on his way to Isiolo town.
Reports indicate that the deceased, who was a Deputy Principal at a local secondary school, was caught between a gunfire exchange involving police officers and the cattle rustlers, sustained bullet wounds that he later succumbed to.
Another teacher, based in Oldonyiro was forced to abandon his motorbike near Mlango area after the armed criminals intercepted him and begun firing at him.
“They opened fire on him as he rode on a motorbike to buy some items in Isiolo town. A bullet reportedly hit his helmet,” a colleague to the victim told The Press Point.
The incident comes a fortnight after Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen launched an intensified security operation in Laikipia, Samburu and Isiolo to flush out criminals.
