Tension is building up in Isiolo following last evening’s gun attack at Burat MCA near Northern Galaxy Hotel.

According to Isiolo Deputy County Commissioner Christopher Siele, the MCA was shot twice while inside his car, minutes after he stepped out of a meeting with one of his colleagues and two youths.

An unknown man, wearing a helmet and a reflector jacket, approached him immediately after he got into the car to make a phone call, only to shoot him moments after.

“The man tried to say something, but the MCA couldn’t hear him clearly. Before he could react, the stranger fired twice, injuring his hand and shoulder,” Mr Siele told The Press Point of the around 7:50PM incident.

The suspect is then said to have crossed the road and fled.

Despite his injuries, the MCA managed to drive himself to the police station to report the incident.

He was later rushed to Meru for treatment, where doctors found two bullets lodged in his body—one in his collarbone and another in his palm.

The attack has left residents shaken, and speculation is spreading.

DCC Siele called for calmness, warning against revenge attacks and asking the public to let investigators do their work.

“Residents should cease form speculations and allow investigators do their work and bring the culprits to book,”noted the administrator.

This incident has once again highlighted the growing threat of illegal firearms in Isiolo. Security officials are now under pressure to address the rising concerns over gun violence in the region.
